Finding The Right Words
Amy Drew Thompson has dabbled in radio and worked in TV news, but her first and greatest love is delivering the practiced prose that people connect with. A rare bird whose journo degree has actually been put to its intended use, she’s enjoyed a colorful career that’s included both steady freelance and long-term stints behind the editor’s desk for an array of renowned publications. A headline guru with a knack for copy that is both entertaining and on point, she’s proud to say she’s never missed a deadline.
Defying the stereotype, she’s simultaneously a jack-of-all-trades and master of many. While her recent work predominantly consists of reporting and writing for consumer, trade and custom outfits (with a healthy dose of marketing), she’s a talented editor with an arsenal of red pens – and she knows how to use them.
By subscribing to the maxim that if one never gets lost, one never goes anywhere new, Amy leads an eclectic, inquisitive life. She is raising two daughters to delight in the world around them – whether that means raising butterflies in the backyard, tracking deer in the wilds of the Florida Keys or requesting virgin daiquiris at a beachfront resort. Amy’s curiosity, wit and appetite for a life truly experienced combine to make one heck of a writer.
In addition to freelance, she is open to offers of extended contract, part-time and full-time positions.

Testimonials
“I could count on Drew to provide a clear, concise and captivating article about absolutely any subject — from technical telecom topics to industry building trends — no matter what the deadline. Her versatility, attention to detail and amazing ability to put a new angle on an old issue kept her at the top of my list for each of my magazines.”
Katie Keim
Editor, Naylor Publications (2004-2008)
“Amy Drew and I have been either working together or assigning one another articles for more than 10 years now, and her enthusiasm for writing has never wavered. Her creativity — especially an innate ability to use common, everyday experiences to make extraordinary points — is truly inspirational. My magazine has a relatively specific audience and focus and she always manages to bring fresh ideas and interesting angles to each piece. She’s also very adaptable and obsessed with deadlines. I’m proud and happy to call her my colleague.”
J.B. Bissell
Editor, Interval World
“I consider Amy Drew Thompson one of my true ‘go to’ writers. It’s rare enough to find someone who really ‘gets it,’ but someone who can dish it out as well? That’s golden.
In addition to being able to—depending on the subject matter—pluck your heart strings, provoke deep thought or cause you to snarf liquid from your nose—Amy Drew is the consummate professional. She’s dedicated, positive, deadline-driven and able to leap tall buildings in a single bound (when she’s had enough coffee).
Amy Drew is a creative thinker—minus the diva attitude. She accepts critique gracefully, and integrates any corrections or revisions required to her assignments in a timely and thoughtful manner. From our long-ago days at Playgirl to her contributions at SexIs, she has consistently delivered the goods and always exceeded my expectations.
So, what are you waiting for? Hire her already!”
